Painting Portfolio
My meditative abstract paintings are made with found burlap jute and linen to explore the ideas of homeland and heartland. I tear and mend the upholstery with imperfect stitching to show how we improvise daily life. The works show a metaphor: we are stretched thin, but our daily task it to accept the humanness of mistakes and missteps, and to enjoy the beauty of imperfectly mending. My new series of power portraits feature Kansas City artists, while my whimsical work continues to bring dreamlike delight.
