FLAG SERIES
The Flag is an iconic design. Before the famous Jasper Johns, there was Betsy Ross. These flag images refer to the idea of women's work as the foundation of our ideals for home and government. The imperfectly stitched flag represents the desire for peace and unity. Each day is another day to mend the past, to ask forgiveness, and to shed light on the act of daily repairing and aiming for wholeness. To me, the symbol of tearing was always the most important to me. The most visceral. Through the act of tearing and mending, I’m able to approach the gamut of grief and our aim for recovery in our personal and national ideologies.
