Service Description

Join Polly for Poetry Writing Workshops in our Poet's Corner at Creative Spark Gallery! Freewriting, prompts, and poetry! (visual, formed, free verse, concrete, and narrative poetry). Participants are led through a step-by-step process to play with words is delightfully fun!  Materials to bring: a small notebook for writing and pens or pencils; art supplies provided. Polly Alice McCann is an author artist and poet with a deep love for lyrical narrative. She credits much of her creative work to her master’s thesis in creative writing and poetry on the Jungian subconscious creative process, which won her an Ernest Hartmann Award. Her poetry has been featured in publications including Rattle, Naugatuck River Review, Thorny Locust, and arc24, 365 Days, and was selected for the KC Streetcar Poetry Project. Polly has edited over thirty poetry books. With five collections of her own. Watch out for her sixth book: “Dragon Lady: Chimera Poems” by Spartan Press. Her art and poetry have  been published in US newspapers and magazines, most recently Rattle Magazine, and has shown art internationally from Santa Monica to the Netherlands. She is the executive director of Creative Spark Gallery and Studios on Englewood Row in Independence, MO.
